Accountant with Property Management
<p>We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced <strong>Property Accountant</strong> to join a rapidly growing organization in <strong>Sarasota, FL</strong>. In this role, you will oversee financial operations for property assets, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting practices while collaborating with property management teams to maximize efficiency and profitability.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Manage day-to-day accounting operations related to property finances, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and tenant billing.</li><li>Perform <strong>bank reconciliations</strong>, ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation for property accounts.</li><li>Prepare and maintain property operating budgets, analyzing variances and preparing recommendations for optimization.</li><li>Process tenant payments, record rent rolls, and monitor collections to ensure payments are received on time.</li><li>Reconcile property management systems to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.</li><li>Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements for individual properties, ensuring compliance with <strong>GAAP</strong> and other accounting standards.</li><li>Support property tax filings, insurance reconciliation, and audits by gathering necessary documentation and providing detailed reports.</li><li>Collaborate with property managers and leadership teams to address financial reporting and forecasting needs.</li><li>Identify and implement process improvements to streamline property accounting and reporting workflows.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>If you are interested in this role, please apply directly to this posting then call our office at 727-576-7717.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Education:</strong> Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li><li><strong>Experience:</strong> 3-5 years of experience in property accounting or real estate accounting.</li><li><strong>Technical Skills:</strong> Proficiency in property management and accounting software (e.g., <strong>Yardi</strong>, <strong>MRI</strong>, <strong>QuickBooks</strong>) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).</li><li><strong>Detail-Oriented:</strong> Highly organized with strong attention to detail for managing multiple properties/accounts.</li><li><strong>Knowledge:</strong> Familiarity with lease agreements, rent roll calculations, and property accounting practices.</li><li><strong>Communication:</strong> Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and communicate financial insights effectively.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working with large property portfolios or commercial real estate properties.</li><li>CPA certification or active CPA candidate.</li><li>Familiarity with multi-entity accounting or property development accounting.</li></ul><p><br></p>
