Accounting Manager
<p>We are seeking a hands-on, adaptable <strong>Accounting Manager</strong> to lead all day-to-day accounting operations within a fast-growing civil construction firm. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong full-cycle accounting experience and a desire to help shape and grow the accounting function from the ground up.</p><p><br></p><p>Reporting directly to the General Manager and company owner, the Accounting Manager will oversee accounts payable and receivable, manage vendor payments, support payroll oversight, and ensure financial statements are accurate and timely. This role will also involve monitoring payments to key vendors like Caterpillar and John Deere, working closely with HR and engineering teams, and playing a key role in the upcoming ERP transition from QuickBooks to Spectrum.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a <strong>temp-to-perm</strong> opportunity with the intent to convert to a full-time hire in approximately three months. The company is experiencing rapid growth, and this position offers the chance to build processes, improve systems, and grow with the organization. The position is <strong>fully onsite</strong> in Clearwater, FL, and will eventually manage an Accounting Clerk once administrative staff expansion is complete.</p>
<p><strong>Experience & Skills</strong></p><ul><li>8+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the <strong>construction industry</strong> (civil construction is a plus)</li><li>Strong full-cycle accounting knowledge, including financial statement preparation</li><li>Experience managing <strong>AP/AR</strong>, vendor payments, pay applications, and accounting oversight of payroll</li><li>Ability to work in a <strong>fast-paced, evolving environment</strong> with minimal structure</li><li>Comfortable dealing with <strong>change</strong>, backlog cleanup, and helping establish <strong>standard operating procedures</strong></li><li>Proven experience with <strong>QuickBooks</strong> and ideally <strong>Spectrum</strong> (or other ERP systems with ability to learn Spectrum quickly)</li></ul><p><strong>Personality & Fit</strong></p><ul><li>Strong initiative and problem-solving skills</li><li>Comfortable working independently with direct access to senior leadership</li><li>Energetic, growth-minded individual seeking <strong>long-term career development</strong></li><li>Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate with multiple departments</li></ul><p><strong>Other Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Must be able to work <strong>onsite, Monday–Friday</strong>, at the temporary Clearwater office (eventually moving to a new permanent office)</li><li>Available to start <strong>immediately</strong> (within a few days)</li><li>Willingness to transition into a <strong>permanent role</strong> with a salary range of <strong>$85K–$110K</strong></li><li>Looking for candidates who can eventually manage staff as the team grows</li></ul>
