We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Westchester, Illinois. This role requires a strong background in managing financial processes, including unclaimed property reporting, account reconciliation, and year-end data reviews. The ideal candidate will excel in handling large data sets, utilizing accounting software, and solving complex problems with a proactive mindset. Responsibilities:• Assist with unclaimed property filings by reviewing outstanding checks, determining if payments are due to payees, and preparing state reports using specialized software.• Reconcile accounts payable vouchers to bank accounts and identify checks that need to be voided or adjusted.• Post old vouchers to ensure accurate financial records and assist in developing comprehensive processes with clear documentation.• Contribute to year-end reporting by reviewing and analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy.• Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage and analyze large volumes of data efficiently.• Work with accounting systems such as Great Plains and homegrown databases to support various financial operations.• Investigate and resolve complex accounting discrepancies by applying analytical and creative problem-solving skills.• Provide support for high-volume data entry tasks, including coding invoices and managing automated clearing house (ACH) transactions.• Collaborate with the team to establish streamlined workflows and enhance operational efficiency. • Proven experience in accounts payable, including coding invoices and managing check runs. • Proficiency in handling high-volume data entry with exceptional accuracy. • Familiarity with accounting software such as Great Plains and specialized tools like Unclaimed Property Pro is a plus. • Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets and performing detailed analyses. • Strong problem-solving abilities and a knack for investigative accounting. • Comfortable learning and using new software systems, including homegrown databases. • Knowledge of ACH transactions and Form 1099 reporting requirements. • Ability to think creatively and find solutions to ambiguous financial scenarios.
