<p>Book Scanning Team Member - onsite in Saddle Brook, NJ </p><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Sorting and Preparation: Begin each shift by sorting books, carrying boxes of materials, and arranging them for scanning.</strong></li><li><strong>Cutting and Prepping Books: Use appropriate tools to carefully prepare books for digitization, including cutting bindings when necessary.</strong></li><li><strong>Book Scanning Operations: Operate book scanning equipment, including high-speed floor-mount scanners and desk-type scanners, following established procedures.</strong></li><li><strong>Book Handling: Inspect and handle printed books carefully to prevent damage during the process.</strong></li><li><strong>Quality Assurance: Ensure scanned images meet defined quality standards for alignment, focus, clarity, and cropping. Perform adjustments (e.g., DPI, contrast, color mode, file type) as needed based on the book type and condition.</strong></li><li><strong>File Organization: Organize, label, and systematically store scanned files in digital folders.</strong></li><li><strong>Issue Resolution: Flag and resolve scanning issues such as blurry pages, skipped scans, shadow interference, or mechanical errors. Escalate problems to the quality control team when necessary.</strong></li><li><strong>Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine equipment checks, clean scanner glass, and report any technical faults promptly.</strong></li><li><strong>Communication: Maintain clear communication with the quality control team to ensure scanning standards are met.</strong></li><li><strong>Performance Targets: Meet daily and weekly scanning targets, maintaining the expected level of accuracy and quality.</strong></li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 30 lbs as part of the sorting and preparation tasks.</strong></li><li><strong>Consistently sitting or standing for extended periods while operating scanning equipment.</strong></li><li><strong>Handling fragile or sensitive books with care to avoid damage.</strong></li><li><strong>Comfortable performing repetitive scanning tasks and maintaining focus over long periods.</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Key Skills and Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>High school diploma or equivalent (additional certifications in IT, design, or digital archiving are a plus).</strong></li><li><strong>Prior experience with document scanning, digitization, or similar tasks preferred but not required.</strong></li><li><strong>Strong attention to detail and ability to spot subtle errors in scanned images.</strong></li><li><strong>Proficient in computers, file organization systems, Excel, and basic image editing tools.</strong></li><li><strong>Familiarity with file formats (e.g., PDF, TIFF, JPEG) and resolution concepts (DPI).</strong></li><li><strong>Basic troubleshooting skills for scanner and software issues.</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently.</strong></p>
