Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis for approximately six weeks. This role involves providing essential payroll support for a construction and subcontracting company during a leave of absence. The ideal candidate will have experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and union reporting, and will be ready to contribute immediately with minimal training. This is a contract position based in Chula Vista, California.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Process weekly payroll for a workforce of 40–50 employees, including union payroll and fringe benefits.<br>• Manage certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting to ensure compliance with regulations.<br>• Maintain accurate manual timecards and verify data integrity.<br>• Input and track payroll data using the appropriate systems and tools.<br>• Prepare weekly bank deposits and assist with account reconciliations as needed.<br>• Generate reports and spreadsheets, demonstrating strong proficiency in Excel.<br>• Collaborate with the accounting team on administrative and reporting tasks.<br>• Optionally assist with light inventory tracking, if required.
• A minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, ideally within the construction or contracting industry.<br>• Proficiency with Excel and the ability to manage manual payroll processes effectively.<br>• Familiarity with union payroll, certified payroll, and prevailing wage requirements.<br>• Experience with payroll systems and tools, such as ADP Workforce Now or similar platforms.<br>• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines, including weekly payroll processing.<br>• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle sensitive data with discretion.
