We are looking for an experienced Sr. Grant Accountant to join our team in Portland, Maine. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to manage grant accounting processes, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with federal and state funding requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in accounting and a proven ability to handle complex financial arrangements. Responsibilities: • Prepare and manage month-end close processes, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. • Oversee grant accounting activities, including reporting and assembling required materials for financial documentation. • Generate comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports to support organizational goals. • Manage project accounting tasks, ensuring all costs are allocated appropriately to grants. • Ensure compliance with multiple state and federal funding regulations. • Handle complex billing arrangements and payroll-related tasks for grant-funded projects. • Compile and review timesheets and financial reports for accuracy and completeness.

• Proven experience with month-end close processes and general ledger management. • Strong knowledge of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation. • Expertise in grant accounting and financial reporting. • Familiarity with federal and state funding requirements and compliance standards. • Demonstrated ability to manage complex billing arrangements and payroll processes. • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation. • Proficiency with accounting software and tools. • Strong organizational and communication skills.
