Accounting Assistant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Newark, New Jersey. In this role, you will support vital financial operations and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with property managers and senior leadership.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Stay informed about regulatory updates and ensure compliance best practices are implemented effectively.<br>• Analyze laws and regulations relevant to housing and organizational operations, providing interpretations and recommendations to senior management.<br>• Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records to meet organizational and regulatory standards.<br>• Assess the effectiveness of current controls and suggest improvements to enhance operational efficiency.<br>• Identify risks and non-conformities, proposing corrective actions as necessary.<br>• Partner with senior management and various departments to ensure adherence to compliance standards.<br>• Collaborate with property managers to address compliance issues and offer guidance or training as needed.<br>• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to maintain financial accuracy.<br>• Perform bank reconciliations and code invoices in alignment with accounting procedures.<br>• Utilize QuickBooks for property accounting tasks, including HUD-related activities.
• Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.<br>• Strong experience with bank reconciliations and invoice coding.<br>• Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks and its applications in accounting.<br>• Familiarity with property accounting and HUD-related financial operations.<br>• Ability to evaluate and improve compliance controls.<br>• Excellent analytical skills for interpreting laws and regulations.<br>• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with managers and other departments.<br>• Prior experience in a non-profit or housing-related industry is preferred.
