We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at a government contractor in northern Virginia. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic environment while utilizing your expertise in accounting practices and financial operations. Responsibilities:• Oversee and execute month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are resolved.• Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards.• Perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve any variances efficiently.• Conduct bank reconciliations to verify accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.• Apply knowledge of ASC 606 to ensure revenue recognition complies with regulatory guidelines.• Manage accounting processes related to federal government contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

• Proven experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting.• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliation.• Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries.• Demonstrated ability to perform accurate account and bank reconciliations.• Knowledge of ASC 606 and its application to revenue recognition.• Familiarity with federal government contract accounting standards.• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to maintain financial accuracy.
