Staff Accountant
We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a long-term contract position within the restaurants and catering industry, offering an excellent opportunity for growth and development. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Perform daily cash reconciliation and verification to ensure accuracy of financial transactions.<br>• Analyze and review sales data for discrepancies and prepare month-end financial close balances.<br>• Maintain and manage fixed assets, including their creation, updates, and retirement.<br>• Complete account analysis for clearing, costs, and accumulated depreciation and amortization.<br>• Reconcile sub-ledger accounts between fixed assets, the general ledger, and project modules.<br>• Retrieve, modify, and analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.<br>• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including accruals, adjusting entries, and responses to exceptions.<br>• Conduct monthly account reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting.<br>• Collaborate with teams to enhance financial reporting processes and streamline workflows.<br>• Assist with corporate tax returns, sales tax filings, and other compliance-related activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.<br>• 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.<br>• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF.<br>• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.<br>• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.<br>• Experience in general ledger systems and sub-ledger accounting processes.<br>• Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.<br>• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and construction project accounting is a plus.
