Manager of Financial Reporting Job Description

Managers of financial reporting in Canada are responsible for driving the financial reporting function in a company and must have excellent analytical and communication skills. Candidates with a minimum of five years of experience in financial reporting roles are well positioned for the role and those who have worked as financial analysts are preferred. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, as is experience with major ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP and knowledge of internal controls requirements.

Typical manager of financial reporting duties:

Preparing and reviewing interim and annual public filings

Ensuring compliance with IFRS requirements

Presenting internal financial statements

Supporting the controller in preparing for and implementing new accounting standards

Assisting in the maintenance of internal financial controls, including developing and/or updating procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls

Communicating with external and internal auditors regarding financial reporting matters
