Sr. Accountant
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team based in Washington, District of Columbia. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual eager to enhance their expertise in both operational and technical accounting. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with various departments and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare consolidated and detailed financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to support organizational reporting needs.<br>• Manage fixed asset accounting, including journal entries, roll-forward schedules, and reconciliations for additions and disposals.<br>• Research and apply relevant accounting standards to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and practices.<br>• Develop and communicate policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and maintain best practices.<br>• Support the operational accounting team during period-end reporting cycles as needed.<br>• Handle complex journal entries and account reconciliations for areas such as debt, equity, capital assets, and intercompany transactions.<br>• Collaborate with auditors to provide necessary documentation and support for consolidated and standalone financial statements.<br>• Conduct monthly financial analyses to identify trends and ensure accurate reporting.<br>• Assist in preparing financial statement footnotes and multi-tier consolidations.<br>• Perform additional duties as required to support the accounting team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.<br>• Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting, with public accounting experience considered a plus.<br>• Prior experience in industries such as energy, real estate, or technology is advantageous but not mandatory.<br>• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing multi-tier financial consolidations.<br>• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, including drafting footnotes.<br>• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.<br>• Advanced proficiency in Excel and a quick aptitude for learning new software tools.<br>• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
