Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Stockton, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in handling payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. You will work closely with various departments to maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and contribute to the overall efficiency of payroll operations.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Process weekly in-house payroll, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.<br>• Maintain secure and confidential payroll and employment records.<br>• Audit employee timecards, new employee information, and terminations to ensure compliance.<br>• Prepare and transmit federal, state, and local tax funding files.<br>• Handle garnishment entries, ensuring compliance with agency and state regulations.<br>• Investigate complex payroll issues and recommend appropriate solutions.<br>• Process incentive payments, union reimbursements, and other special pay cycles accurately.<br>• Collaborate with the accounting department, banks, and external entities regarding payroll policies and transactions.<br>• Assist in account reconciliations and ensure payroll results align with tax returns and year-end statements.<br>• Stay updated on payroll laws, union contracts, and company policies to maintain compliance.
<p>• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or training in payroll or accounting is preferred.</p><p>• Minimum of five years of payroll and accounting experience, with increasing responsibility.</p><p>• Proficient in full-cycle payroll processes, including multi-state payroll.</p><p>• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now.</p><p>• Strong knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.</p><p>• Demonstrated proficiency in business software, including intermediate or advanced Excel, Word, and Access.</p><p>• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and issue resolution.</p><p>• Strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.</p><p><br></p><p>Please call 209.279.5269 for consideration once you have completed online application. </p>
