Senior Bookkeeper
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Sparks, Maryland. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring seamless operations within our Business Office. The position involves managing various financial tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and student billing, requiring a team-oriented approach and excellent communication skills.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage accounts payable processes, including entering vendor information, reviewing requisition forms for accuracy, and processing payments weekly.<br>• Record and reconcile cash receipts, ensuring all funds are accurately entered into the general ledger.<br>• Coordinate with the Development Office to ensure proper recording of donations and gifts.<br>• Handle student billing by recording tuition payments, preparing reports for insurance purposes, and entering incidental charges.<br>• Oversee barn billing by invoicing community riders, tracking student barn fees, and following up on overdue accounts.<br>• Generate invoices for facility rentals based on the master schedule and ensure timely recording of payments.<br>• Assist in preparing end-of-year tax forms and reports in collaboration with the Business Manager.<br>• Conduct account reconciliations and bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.<br>• Support month-end processes by preparing journal entries and ensuring the general ledger is up-to-date.<br>• Collaborate during financial audits to provide required documentation and ensure compliance.
• Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.<br>• Strong knowledge of sales tax and corporate tax return processes.<br>• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.<br>• Familiarity with month-end financial reporting and procedures.<br>• Experience with financial audits and compliance documentation.<br>• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.<br>• Ability to communicate effectively within a team and with external stakeholders.<br>• Proficiency in financial software and tools for accurate record-keeping.
