Grant Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join a nonprofit organization in Sarasota, Florida. This contract position offers the opportunity to manage and correct grant-related accounting practices while contributing to the financial integrity of the organization. The role is ideal for professionals with expertise in nonprofit fund accounting and grant management.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Review and correct prior grant expense recognition practices to align with service delivery dates.<br>• Reorganize and reallocate grant postings from the previous fiscal year into the purchase order (PO) module.<br>• Implement and manage invoice tracking processes, ensuring proper linkage and documentation.<br>• Maintain oversight of approximately 300 restricted funds, ensuring compliance and accuracy.<br>• Conduct reconciliations, ranging from quick tasks to more complex and time-intensive procedures.<br>• Support the re-implementation and cleanup of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) systems.<br>• Update invoice naming conventions and ensure proper integration with the PO module.<br>• Collaborate with the finance team to enhance operational efficiency and address audit findings.<br>• Utilize Blackbaud Financial software for fund accounting tasks (preferred but not mandatory).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<br>• Proven experience in nonprofit fund accounting, particularly in grant recognition.<br>• Familiarity with managing government grants and restricted funds.<br>• Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation processes.<br>• Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial software or similar accounting systems (preferred).<br>• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.<br>• Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.<br>• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
