We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join a nonprofit organization in Sarasota, Florida. This contract position offers the opportunity to manage and correct grant-related accounting practices while contributing to the financial integrity of the organization. The role is ideal for professionals with expertise in nonprofit fund accounting and grant management. Responsibilities: • Review and correct prior grant expense recognition practices to align with service delivery dates. • Reorganize and reallocate grant postings from the previous fiscal year into the purchase order (PO) module. • Implement and manage invoice tracking processes, ensuring proper linkage and documentation. • Maintain oversight of approximately 300 restricted funds, ensuring compliance and accuracy. • Conduct reconciliations, ranging from quick tasks to more complex and time-intensive procedures. • Support the re-implementation and cleanup of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) systems. • Update invoice naming conventions and ensure proper integration with the PO module. • Collaborate with the finance team to enhance operational efficiency and address audit findings. • Utilize Blackbaud Financial software for fund accounting tasks (preferred but not mandatory).

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Proven experience in nonprofit fund accounting, particularly in grant recognition. • Familiarity with managing government grants and restricted funds. • Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliation processes. • Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial software or similar accounting systems (preferred). • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals. • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
