Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Santa Monica, California. This role is essential in leading the firm's financial operations, ensuring precise fund accounting, and collaborating closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise in real estate investments and construction accounting to support the firm's ongoing growth.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Supervise all fund accounting, corporate accounting, and financial reporting activities for the organization and its investment entities.<br>• Prepare and review comprehensive financial statements, investor reporting packages, and quarterly or annual fund reports.<br>• Manage cash flow operations, including capital calls, distributions, and reconciliations of investor accounts.<br>• Collaborate with asset management, acquisitions, and investor relations teams to facilitate deal execution and analyze portfolio performance.<br>• Assess current accounting systems and processes, recommending improvements to align with firm growth and regulatory requirements.<br>• Provide analytical reports, dashboards, and insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.<br>• Oversee construction budgets, job cost tracking, and allocation of project costs for development initiatives.<br>• Ensure accurate processing of draw requests, lien waivers, and contractor/vendor payments in compliance with construction contracts and schedules.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in real estate or investment firms.<br>• Expertise in construction accounting and CAM reconciliation processes.<br>• Proficiency in using advanced accounting systems such as MRI.<br>• Strong knowledge of document control, scanning, and compilation processes.<br>• Proven ability to manage complex financial operations, including investor account reconciliations and capital distributions.<br>• Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate accounting systems and support strategic decisions.<br>• Experience with corporate real estate and investment fund management.<br>• Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
