<p><strong>Job Description: Reinsurance Accountant (Contract or Contract-to-Hire) – San Mateo, Hybrid</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Overview:</strong></p><p>Our company is seeking a skilled Reinsurance Accountant for a contract or contract-to-hire assignment based in San Mateo, CA. This role offers a hybrid work schedule combining remote flexibility with in-office presence.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Perform general ledger accounting, ensuring accurate posting and maintenance of reinsurance transactions.</li><li>Prepare and review detailed account reconciliations related to reinsurance premiums, claims, settlements, and recoverables.</li><li>Maintain and reconcile reinsurance subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.</li><li>Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including preparation of journal entries and account analysis.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to resolve reconciliation issues and discrepancies.</li><li>Support audit requests, compliance requirements, and documentation for regulatory filings.</li><li>Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives within the reinsurance accounting function.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably within reinsurance or insurance.</li><li>Proficiency in general ledger systems and account reconciliations.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Experience with ERP/accounting software preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Work Arrangement:</strong></p><ul><li>Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite, remainder remote)</li><li>Contract or contract-to-hire opportunity</li></ul><p><br></p>
