We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will support critical financial operations, including assisting with student accounts and financial aid documentation. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week and offers an opportunity to contribute to the higher education sector. Responsibilities: • Assist students by explaining account details and financial aid processes in a clear and precise manner. • Reconcile student accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. • Perform general accounting tasks, such as accounts payable and receivable functions. • Prepare and manage billing processes efficiently and in compliance with institutional policies. • Collaborate with the Controller to support accounting operations and provide timely updates on financial activities. • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student accounts and financial transactions. • Conduct account reconciliations to verify financial consistency and adherence to regulations. • Provide support for light general accounting tasks as needed. • Ensure all financial activities align with institutional standards and regulatory requirements.

• Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Strong skills in billing functions and account reconciliation. • Familiarity with general accounting principles and practices. • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks effectively. • Strong communication skills for explaining financial information to students and stakeholders. • Proficiency in financial software and tools relevant to accounting. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. • Attention to detail and accuracy in all financial operations.
