Sr. Accountant
<p>We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Petersburg, Virginia. This contract position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records and providing cost analysis to support operational decisions within a manufacturing environment. The role requires collaboration with the Controller and other team members to ensure compliance, optimize cost controls, and support budgeting and reporting processes.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Maintain precise accounting transactions, records, and reports to uphold financial accuracy and compliance.</p><p>• Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate reviews while addressing any discrepancies.</p><p>• Manage fixed asset records, including tracking capital projects, analyzing cost variances, and ensuring proper reporting.</p><p>• Ensure inventory records accurately reflect production costs, shipments, and reconciliation with the general ledger.</p><p>• Compile and distribute performance reports for plant operations, including production rates, costs, and trend analysis.</p><p>• Assist with the preparation of monthly cost forecasts and annual budgets in collaboration with the Mill Controller.</p><p>• Handle key aspects of the monthly closing process, including accruals, account reconciliations, and prechecks.</p><p>• Conduct detailed cost analysis to support management in evaluating production costs and operational efficiency.</p><p>• Coordinate physical inventory counts with corporate accounting and external auditors to ensure accuracy.</p>
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.<br>• Proven experience in accounting practices, inventory control, and cost analysis.<br>• Familiarity with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.<br>• Strong knowledge of general ledger and bank reconciliation procedures.<br>• Certification such as CPA or CMA is desirable.<br>• Previous experience in manufacturing accounting is highly preferred.<br>• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.<br>• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve financial objectives.
