Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Oceanside, California. This is a long-term contract opportunity focused on grant-funded financial operations, including federal and state grants. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing accounts payable, auditing invoices, and ensuring compliance with reimbursement requirements.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Review and audit accounts payable invoices to ensure compliance with grant and reimbursement guidelines.<br>• Analyze rejected invoices and identify discrepancies or compliance issues.<br>• Prepare documentation and reporting for grant-funded expenditures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.<br>• Collaborate with stakeholders to address persistent issues related to invoice approval and reimbursement processes.<br>• Maintain detailed records of financial transactions, adhering to grant and funding requirements.<br>• Assist in preparing corporate tax returns and sales tax filings.<br>• Create and post journal entries to maintain an accurate general ledger.<br>• Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.<br>• Provide recommendations for improving financial processes related to grant-funded operations.
• Proven experience in accounts payable, general ledger, and financial auditing.<br>• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return preparation.<br>• Familiarity with grant-funded financial operations and federal/state reimbursement guidelines.<br>• Ability to analyze and resolve issues related to invoice rejection and compliance.<br>• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.<br>• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.<br>• Effective communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and addressing financial concerns.<br>• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
