Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This long-term contract position requires someone who can independently manage day-to-day accounting tasks with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance and a strong background in general ledger management and reconciliations.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and trial balances.<br>• Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.<br>• Organize and maintain vendor and customer master data, including names, addresses, and payment terms.<br>• Validate retained earnings and account balances before and after data loads to ensure consistency.<br>• Review and clean accounting data to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.<br>• Prepare sales tax returns and other compliance-related filings as needed.<br>• Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes efficiently.<br>• Support the implementation and stabilization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance.<br>• Collaborate with the controller to review and finalize financial data as required.<br>• Ensure the accuracy of all accounting data feeding into the system.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on staff or senior-level roles.<br>• Proven expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Finance, including daily use of its accounting functionalities.<br>• Strong skills in reconciliations, general ledger management, and advanced proficiency in Excel.<br>• Experience with system implementations or data migrations is a plus.<br>• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.<br>• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close procedures.<br>• Familiarity with sales tax returns, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR) processes.<br>• Highly reliable and capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
