Staff Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within the government sector, contributing to financial operations and ensuring accuracy in accounting processes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in corporate and sales tax, journal entries, and general ledger management.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Perform the full month-end close process, including revenue accruals, journal entries, and cash applications.<br>• Conduct comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, managing the complete cycle from cash to accruals.<br>• Develop and maintain budgets, including long-term budget planning and adjustments.<br>• Prepare corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.<br>• Manage sales tax processes and filings with accuracy and attention to detail.<br>• Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring consistency and accuracy across accounts.<br>• Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.<br>• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records to maintain accurate reporting.<br>• Assist in audits and ensure adherence to established accounting standards.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.<br>• Proficiency in corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return preparation.<br>• Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entry processes.<br>• Experience with budgeting and long-term financial planning.<br>• Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations and manage accrual processes.<br>• Familiarity with government regulations and compliance standards.<br>• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.<br>• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
