Sr. Accountant
<p>Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting budgeting and reporting efforts. This hybrid role requires three days on-site and offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the organization's mission.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Reconcile incoming gifts, including credit card transactions and cash, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.</p><p>• Monitor and clear suspense accounts while calculating and recording administrative fees.</p><p>• Assist with grant tracking and analysis, maintaining detailed records for reporting.</p><p>• Support the annual budgeting process by preparing schedules, analysis, and monthly budget-to-actual reports.</p><p>• Update quarterly financial dashboards and maintain internal consolidated financial statements.</p><p>• Prepare donor statements and financial reports for Family Support Organizations on a regular basis.</p><p>• Collaborate on compliance tasks, including audit schedules, tax forms, and filings such as Form 990 and Secretary of State SI-100.</p><p>• Track and report new clients and gifts while assisting with accounting for complex gifts and bequests.</p><p>• Facilitate corporate insurance renewals and maintain required documentation.</p><p>• Contribute to endowment spending calculations and ensure adherence to policy guidelines.</p>
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.<br>• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with preference for candidates familiar with non-profit or foundation settings.<br>• Strong understanding of non-profit financial reporting and fund accounting practices.<br>• Prior experience with endowment management and compliance-related tax reporting is highly desirable.<br>• Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with managing large datasets.<br>• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.<br>• Comfort with preparing audits and supporting tax schedules for complex financial arrangements.<br>• Knowledge of charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities is a plus.
