We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this role, you will collaborate closely with divisional leaders and external partners to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective project accounting, and strategic support for business operations. This position is essential to driving key financial outcomes, such as supporting annual business goals and ensuring long-term success. Responsibilities:• Reconcile sub-ledger accounts with general ledger balances and prepare detailed financial statements that align with company and industry standards.• Collaborate with divisional vice presidents to analyze construction contracts, including progress updates, risk assessments, financial projections, and backlog forecasts.• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and providing support during audits.• Develop annual budgets and perform monthly variance analyses to provide actionable financial insights.• Apply percentage-of-completion accounting methods to ensure accurate revenue recognition and detailed project tracking.• Evaluate internal controls, identify potential risks, and implement measures to mitigate financial exposure.• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, ensuring proper classification and amortization, while overseeing inventory tracking.• Prepare prequalification reports for bonding, insurance, and banking purposes, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering collaboration and effective communication within project teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; certifications such as CPA are a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or heavy civil industry. • Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and journal entries. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with construction accounting software. • Strong knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting. • Demonstrated ability to perform account and bank reconciliations with high attention to detail. • Exceptional analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset. • Ability to supervise and guide accounting staff while working effectively within project teams.
