Staff Accountant
We are looking for a meticulous and organized Staff Accountant to support our finance team in Gig Harbor, Washington. This contract position requires expertise in managing daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.<br>• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, adhering to deadlines and established procedures.<br>• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss reports and balance sheets.<br>• Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including processing vendor payments and overseeing customer collections.<br>• Collaborate with vendors to address inquiries, resolve disputes, and verify reconciliation details.<br>• Support payroll processing and verify monthly commission calculations in coordination with payroll staff.<br>• Monitor and record sales tax transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.<br>• Maintain financial records in QuickBooks, including journal entries and transaction updates.<br>• Perform bank reconciliations periodically to verify cash balances and transactions.<br>• Generate invoices, process refunds, and update vendor and customer records accurately.
• Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a solid understanding of financial processes.<br>• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to work efficiently in both.<br>• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, such as ADP, and experience with payroll and commission calculations.<br>• Familiarity with corporate and sales tax regulations, along with experience preparing tax returns.<br>• Ability to create and post journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger accounts.<br>• Skilled in bank reconciliations and accounts receivable processes, including credit card activity monitoring.<br>• Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage vendor relationships and financial inquiries.<br>• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple tasks effectively.
