Sr. Accountant - Contract to Hire - Onsite
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong attention to detail and a solid background in general ledger accounting and nonprofit financial management. As part of a long-term contract, you will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting organizational goals through effective accounting practices.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.<br>• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by analyzing accounts, reconciling sub-ledgers, and resolving discrepancies.<br>• Prepare financial statements such as the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and Statement of Cash Flows, while generating budget-to-actual reports.<br>• Support annual audits by organizing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.<br>• Enforce internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations for nonprofit organizations.<br>• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and internal controls.<br>• Provide general accounting support and contribute to special projects as needed.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting; nonprofit experience is preferred.<br>• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.<br>• Have experience with modern accounting software; familiarity with PeopleSoft is a plus.<br>• Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies efficiently.<br>• Communicate financial data effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.<br>• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with excellent organizational skills.<br>• Work independently with minimal supervision, showing initiative and self-motivation.<br>• CPA certification or candidacy is preferred, along with experience in nonprofit accounting or contract-based roles.
