We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial data management. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate with various departments and contribute to the organization's financial integrity. Responsibilities: • Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure proper reporting. • Assist with corporate tax returns, including sales tax and other compliance aspects. • Collaborate with accounts payable, procurement, and payroll teams to streamline accounting processes. • Conduct mid-level reviews of financial data for accuracy and completeness. • Support municipal accounting functions and adhere to government regulations. • Provide guidance and training on accounting systems and processes. • Analyze financial data and generate reports for management decision-making. • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities. • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

• Proven experience in corporate and sales tax preparation. • Strong knowledge of general ledger systems and journal entry processes. • Familiarity with municipal accounting practices and government regulations. • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns. • Ability to work collaboratively across departments such as payroll and procurement. • Excellent analytical skills to review financial data and generate reports. • Robust understanding of accounting principles and practices. • Experience with financial systems and data entry processes.
