We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this role, you will oversee financial management for construction projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. You will play a vital part in delivering accurate financial reporting and providing insightful analysis to support project teams. Responsibilities:• Review and analyze project contracts to ensure financial compliance with billing rates, cost controls, and retention requirements.• Collaborate with project managers to verify equipment billing accuracy and maintain consistent reporting across departments.• Monitor project costs, identify discrepancies, and adjust vendor and subcontractor billings in line with contract terms.• Prepare and manage project billings, reconciliations, and closeout processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.• Conduct financial forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow management to provide actionable insights to project teams.• Support audits by preparing reconciliations, documentation, and detailed reports while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.• Act as a subject matter expert in project management systems to enhance financial tracking and reporting efficiency.• Educate subcontractors on lien waiver requirements to ensure compliance across all tiers.• Process invoices, journal entries, and change orders promptly, maintaining accurate financial records.• Communicate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and maintain data consistency across projects.

• Proven experience in project accounting, preferably within the construction industry. • Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and related financial regulations. • Proficiency in preparing and managing journal entries, including month-end adjustments. • Familiarity with general ledger processes and account reconciliation. • Expertise in AIA billing, contractual billing, and time and materials billing. • Demonstrated ability to manage lien waivers and ensure compliance with subcontractor requirements. • Skilled in using project management systems for efficient financial oversight. • Excellent analytical and communication skills to provide financial guidance to project teams.
