We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Sauget, Illinois. This position will play a key role in managing plant accounting functions, focusing on cost analysis and production data accuracy. As a long-term contract opportunity, this role requires strong attention to detail and a solid background in manufacturing cost accounting and compliance reporting.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Develop and maintain standard cost models, ensuring accurate cost-of-production assumptions.<br>• Perform detailed yield and loss analyses, margin evaluations, and operational variance reviews.<br>• Support inventory valuation processes, including reconciliations and updates to cost data.<br>• Manage month-end close activities, such as preparing accruals, journal entries, and production reports.<br>• Provide analytical support for compliance reporting related to tax credits, such as CI/45Z.<br>• Collaborate with operations and finance teams to enhance cost reporting and improve model accuracy.<br>• Analyze production data to identify trends and provide actionable insights for process optimization.<br>• Ensure high standards of accuracy and detail in all financial and operational reporting.<br>• Assist in the integration and maintenance of relevant accounting systems to support cost tracking.<br>• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in cost management processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<br>• At least 3 years of experience in cost accounting or plant accounting roles.<br>• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formula modeling.<br>• Previous experience in manufacturing, with a preference for ethanol or energy industries.<br>• Expertise in building and maintaining standard cost models for manufacturing processes.<br>• Familiarity with compliance reporting, including tax credit-related requirements such as 45Z.<br>• Knowledge of ERP systems such as Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.<br>• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
