We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a reputable non-profit organization in San Diego, California. This is a contract position that requires someone with strong attention to detail to manage the general ledger, ensure accurate reporting, and support a smooth month-end close process. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring expertise in revenue recognition and accrual accounting. Responsibilities:• Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries are prepared, reviewed, and posted accurately.• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and tie general ledger activity to source documentation.• Reconcile bank accounts, monitor discrepancies, and post necessary adjustments.• Verify sales and revenue figures against supporting schedules and prepare related entries.• Handle accounts payable activities and accruals, ensuring timely and accurate processing.• Assist in preparing internal financial statements and maintain organized schedules using pre-built Excel templates.• Support revenue recognition processes and event settlement accounting.• Maintain prepaid expense and cash schedules to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.• Ensure all journal entries are backed by proper source documentation.• Contribute to year-end close tasks and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger and month-end close processes.• Proficiency in revenue recognition and accrual accounting principles.• Strong knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations and journal entry preparation.• Familiarity with accounting in event, venue, or commercial revenue environments is a plus.• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work with pre-built templates.• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, revenue-driven environment.
