Lead Platform Engineer
<p>On behalf of our specialized manufacturing client, Robert Half Talent Solutions, Technology Division is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer. </p><p>As a <strong>Lead Platform Engineer</strong>, you won’t just manage systems—you’ll revolutionize them. You will apply your engineering expertise to troubleshoot, design, and develop industry-leading solutions, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and operational performance. More than that, you will play a key leadership role within our Distribution Center (DC) team, collaborating across functions and geographies to drive consistent results.</p><p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Design & Optimize</strong></li><li>Lead the implementation and optimization of cutting-edge Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) integrated with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Bring your hands-on expertise to conveyor systems, messaging controls, scanners, ASRS, material handling robots, and more.</li><li><strong>Control Systems Expert</strong></li><li>Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLCs/PCs, industrial networks, and electrical distribution systems. You’ll tackle industrial electrical challenges ranging from 480V 3-phase systems to 24 VDC components.</li><li><strong>Problem-Solving Leader</strong></li><li>Identify root causes of technical issues and lead failure analysis processes with actionable solutions. Use diagnostic software, collect and analyze operational data, and identify trends to implement process improvements.</li><li><strong>Collaborate & Mentor</strong></li><li>Support and guide diverse teams, including maintenance staff and business leaders, to deliver seamless results on mission-critical projects. Act as the escalation point to troubleshoot and repair both hardware and control software systems within the distribution center.</li><li><strong>Innovate & Advance Productivity</strong></li><li>Partner with operations and business teams to prioritize competing requests, identify bottlenecks, and recommend innovations that improve productivity and minimize labor costs.</li><li><strong>Execute End-to-End Engineering Projects</strong></li><li>Conceptualize, design, and implement groundbreaking projects, from initial plans and budgets through testing, commissioning, and daily progress reports. Develop detailed system descriptions (DOO), test plans, and user guides.</li><li><br></li></ul><p><br></p>
<p>We’re searching for candidates who combine technical mastery with leadership skills. You’ll stand out if you possess:</p><ul><li><strong>Experience:</strong> 5+ years of progressive industry experience in material handling, automation systems, and WCS/WMS integration.</li><li><strong>Education:</strong> A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.</li><li><strong>Technical Expertise:</strong> Advanced knowledge of PLC programming, industrial controls, PC/server troubleshooting, and electrical systems (24 VDC, 110 VAC, and 480V 3-phase). Knowledge of Fortna, Dematic, and HighJump platforms is preferred but not required.</li><li><strong>Critical Problem-Solving:</strong> Exceptional troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, and network systems with clear documentation and ownership in project life cycles.</li><li><strong>Communication Skills:</strong> An ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring projects align with revenue and profit goals.</li><li><strong>Attention to Detail:</strong> Skilled in designing and reviewing electrical devices, control panels (CAD), bar code technologies, and commissioning plans.</li></ul><p>If you love collaborating, staying calm under pressure, and solving big problems, you’re exactly who we need!</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
