Accountant
<p>We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Orange County, New York. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting practices while managing multiple tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proven track record in financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvement.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Prepare accurate monthly and year-end financial closeout reports and statements.</p><p>• Assist in developing and maintaining corporate budgeting strategies.</p><p>• Compile and file various tax returns across multiple states, including sales tax, payroll tax, and personal property tax.</p><p>• Perform general ledger postings, account reconciliations, and detailed financial analysis.</p><p>• Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.</p><p>• Conduct bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and ensure accuracy.</p><p>• Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting department.</p><p>• Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and journal entries efficiently.</p><p>• Collaborate with team members on special projects and assigned tasks.</p><p>• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company procedures.</p>
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, including expertise in reconciliations, financial reporting, and closeout processes.<br>• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).<br>• Proficiency in financial systems; experience with Deltek Vision and Adaptive Planning Software is a plus.<br>• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Adobe, with the ability to learn company-specific software.<br>• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.<br>• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex financial issues.<br>• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.<br>• Familiarity with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
