<p>We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a long-term contract position within the retail industry, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations and ensure the accuracy of accounting records. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial analysis, account reconciliation, and reporting, while fostering compliance with policies and procedures. Preference will be given to applicants currently residing in Hawaii due to the nature of the job requirements.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Prepare and maintain records for journal entries, capitalization, and amortization related to capital projects and fixed assets.</p><p>• Record and track repair and maintenance expenditures, including quarter-end accruals.</p><p>• Enter financial transactions into accounting systems with a focus on accuracy and completeness.</p><p>• Generate reports and summaries to present financial data effectively.</p><p>• Perform analysis and research on financial outcomes, including variance and budget reviews.</p><p>• Reconcile accounts promptly, addressing discrepancies and resolving issues as needed.</p><p>• Provide documentation and reports to support annual audits, reviews, and tax filings.</p><p>• Evaluate, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.</p><p>• Manage additional accounting tasks and projects as required.</p>

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, along with at least 2 years of detail-oriented accounting experience.<br>• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.<br>• Self-motivated and capable of meeting deadlines independently.<br>• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.<br>• Familiarity with Great Plains Accounting software is preferred.<br>• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.<br>• Experience with accounts payable, general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.<br>• Knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles and practices.
