We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage all financial operations for a dynamic organization based in Detroit, Michigan. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across more than 300 legal entities, providing strategic financial guidance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will excel at directing accounting functions, supervising staff, and implementing effective financial controls and processes. Responsibilities: • Lead the preparation of consolidated and individual entity-level financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. • Manage accounting and financial reporting activities for over 300 legal entities, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and reconciliations. • Analyze financial data to assess profitability, operational efficiency, and budget performance. • Develop and implement cost control measures while supporting action plans and financial evaluations. • Oversee intercompany accounting processes, ensuring accurate recording and settlement across entities. • Monitor and manage operating cash flow, including investments, receivables, payables, and inventory at both the entity and group levels. • Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing training opportunities and recommendations for staffing improvements. • Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, ensuring effective planning and control across entities. • Establish and enforce internal controls and audit procedures to maintain sound financial practices. • Direct tax planning and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including corporate and payroll filings.

• Extensive experience in real estate accounting and intercompany accounting processes. • Proficiency in managing month-end close procedures and preparing financial statements. • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and related financial reporting standards. • Skilled in journal entries, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations. • Expertise in audit processes, including internal and external audits. • Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data to drive strategic decisions. • Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining relationships with financial institutions. • Ability to oversee and ensure compliance with tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
