Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our established electrical contracting company in Dallas, Texas. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a solid background in construction accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. The Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial management, supporting project profitability, and driving operational efficiency.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, job costing, and general ledger activities.<br>• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.<br>• Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and actionable recommendations to leadership.<br>• Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, credit lines, and financial risk assessments.<br>• Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and construction industry accounting standards.<br>• Maintain systems for job cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and project profitability analysis.<br>• Supervise contract billing processes, including progress billings, time and materials, unit price, and retention tracking.<br>• Coordinate certified payroll documentation, prevailing wage compliance, and lien releases where applicable.<br>• Establish and enforce internal financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy.<br>• Lead and mentor accounting staff, encouraging attention to detail and promoting team collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.<br>• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is mandatory.<br>• At least 8 years of accounting experience, including 3 years within the construction industry, managing companies with $20M+ annual revenue.<br>• Proficiency in construction accounting software such as QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage 100/300, Viewpoint Vista, or Foundation.<br>• Strong knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress reporting, and construction billing methods.<br>• Proven experience managing audits, compliance, and financial controls.<br>• Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.<br>• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a finance or accounting team of two or more professionals.
