We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Agoura Hills, California. This is a long-term contract position, ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a solid background in fund accounting and payroll processes. The role requires a high level of accuracy and organizational skills to manage financial operations effectively while adhering to compliance standards.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage fund accounting processes, including appropriations and allocation of taxpayer funds.<br>• Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate deductions, garnishments, and payouts.<br>• Administer pension contributions and health-related financial transactions.<br>• Process accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payment of bills.<br>• Prepare and review journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.<br>• Handle corporate and sales tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.<br>• Collaborate with team members to support financial reporting and audits.<br>• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support financial activities.<br>• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial transactions and reports.<br>• Provide support for heavy accounts payable processing during peak periods.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.<br>• Proficiency in fund accounting, payroll, and accounts payable processes.<br>• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.<br>• Experience with general ledger management and journal entry creation.<br>• Ability to handle high volumes of accounts payable transactions accurately.<br>• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.<br>• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.<br>• Familiarity with Tyler products or similar accounting software is a plus.
