We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Aberdeen, Maryland. This contract-to-permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical financial tasks while supporting the organization’s accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing investments, fixed assets, and general ledger accounts. Responsibilities:• Assist the Controller with preparing financial and regulatory reports.• Reconcile various general ledger accounts regularly, analyze financial data, and post entries to maintain accuracy.• Prepare monthly and quarterly risk-based reports for submission to regulatory entities.• File quarterly call reports and annual surveys, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.• Administer weekly updates on the organization’s portal.• Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to streamline workflows, research discrepancies, and improve efficiency.• Continuously evaluate accounting processes to identify opportunities for improvement and discuss recommendations with the Controller.

• Proficiency in corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return preparation.• Strong knowledge of general ledger and journal entries.• Experience with accounts payable processes and reconciliations.• Familiarity with SEC reporting and compliance guidelines.• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.• Ability to analyze financial data and provide accurate reporting.• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
