Project Accountant
We are looking for a skilled Project Accountant to join our team in Thousand Oaks, California. This Contract position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial oversight for projects, ensuring compliance with budgets, and delivering actionable insights for decision-makers. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in project accounting and advanced proficiency in financial tools and reporting.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Analyze and maintain detailed job cost reports to ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to individual projects.<br>• Reconcile job cost data with the general ledger, supporting month-end and year-end close processes.<br>• Prepare cost forecasts, variance analyses, and profitability reports to assist project managers and leadership in decision-making.<br>• Monitor budgets against actual costs, identifying discrepancies and proposing corrective actions to align financial performance.<br>• Develop and manage advanced Excel spreadsheets, utilizing formulas, pivot tables, and lookups to handle complex data sets efficiently.<br>• Create customized Excel dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators and trends in job costs.<br>• Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.<br>• Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance job costing accuracy and streamline reporting workflows.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting or construction accounting.<br>• Proficiency in Deltek Vision or similar accounting software.<br>• Strong understanding of job costing principles and construction project accounting.<br>• Advanced skills in Excel, including the ability to create formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.<br>• Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed financial reports and analyses.<br>• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making.<br>• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.<br>• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
