Staff Accountant
We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Santa Barbara, California. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in corporate tax, governmental accounting, and financial record-keeping to ensure compliance and accuracy in all accounting activities. This role requires a proactive individual who can navigate complex accounting systems and deliver precise results.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and review corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.<br>• Manage sales tax reporting and filings in a timely and accurate manner.<br>• Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accuracy in financial statements.<br>• Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.<br>• Utilize accounting software, such as Banner, to streamline processes and maintain records.<br>• Handle grant accounting tasks, including tracking and reporting on funding allocations.<br>• Apply expertise in governmental accounting to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards.<br>• Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and provide necessary documentation.<br>• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or a related field.<br>• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return processes.<br>• Proficiency in managing journal entries and general ledger activities.<br>• Familiarity with Banner accounting software or similar platforms.<br>• Experience in grant accounting and governmental accounting practices.<br>• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.<br>• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
