Payroll Clerk
<p>Our client is seeking a <strong>Payroll Clerk</strong> to support their team on a <strong>contract basis</strong> in San Diego. This role focuses on the accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing assistance to employees with payroll-related questions. It’s a great opportunity to work closely with HR and Accounting while gaining additional exposure to payroll systems and processes.</p><p><strong>Key Duties:</strong></p><ul><li>Enter and maintain payroll records, including wages, salaries, bonuses, commissions, and hours worked.</li><li>Review employee files to confirm accuracy and ensure documentation is current.</li><li>Post payroll-related entries to the general ledger, ensuring proper account coding for earnings and deductions.</li><li>Process deductions for taxes, benefits, and other withholdings in compliance with regulations.</li><li>Handle adjustments, reissued checks, direct deposits, and final paychecks as needed.</li><li>Keep current on payroll legislation and compliance requirements.</li><li>Respond to employee questions regarding pay, tax withholdings, or other payroll issues.</li><li>Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain smooth payroll operations.</li><li>Perform additional administrative and payroll support as assigned.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn payroll systems quickly.</li><li>Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive payroll data.</li><li>Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or Payroll Certification is a plus.</li><li>Prior experience with Dayforce or similar payroll software is strongly preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p>
