Payroll Accountant
We are looking for a skilled Payroll Accountant to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a vital role in ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining compliance, and supporting general ledger activities within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to payroll system optimization efforts.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Accurately prepare and post payroll-related journal entries within established deadlines.<br>• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll, investigating discrepancies and resolving variances promptly.<br>• Provide critical support for payroll accounting during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.<br>• Collaborate with HR and Payroll teams to ensure transactions align with company policies and accounting standards.<br>• Generate, analyze, and present payroll reports for audits and management review.<br>• Strengthen and maintain internal controls over payroll accounting processes.<br>• Assist in optimizing payroll system modules and integrations, including Workday and other payroll systems.<br>• Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve payroll accounting processes.<br>• Support compliance with payroll regulations and audit requirements, addressing operational challenges proactively.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<br>• Proven experience in payroll accounting, including general ledger reconciliation and journal entry preparation.<br>• Proficiency in payroll systems such as Workday, ADP Workforce Now, or similar platforms.<br>• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.<br>• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.<br>• Knowledge of payroll compliance standards and regulations within the U.S.<br>• Experience managing payroll for multi-state or large-scale operations.<br>• Familiarity with financial reconciliation and audit processes.
