We are looking for an experienced Controller to join an established architecture firm in Palo Alto, California. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in financial management and systems like Deltek Vision or Vantage, who is eager to oversee accounting operations and contribute to the company’s long-term success. The position offers the opportunity to lead a team and manage key accounting functions, including payroll, financial statement preparation, and cash management.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee daily accounting operations, including preparing financial statements for a company with $60M-$70M in revenue.<br>• Manage and mentor a team of two staff members, ensuring smooth workflows and accurate reporting.<br>• Process payroll for approximately 220 employees monthly, including state tax filings, and learn payroll procedures if needed.<br>• Consolidate financial statements across four entities, with training provided as necessary.<br>• Handle cash management and forecasting, with training available to enhance skills.<br>• Prepare and maintain balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.<br>• Collaborate with external auditors for financial statement reviews.<br>• Administer calculations for the company’s 401(k) matching contributions.<br>• Supervise accounts payable and receivable clerks, as well as bank reconciliations.<br>• Assist with project-based accounting, including time and expense tracking, lump sum contracts, and fixed fee contracts.

• Proven experience in accounting within industries such as consulting, CPA, law, architecture, or engineering that require attention to detail.<br>• Proficiency in Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantage systems is mandatory.<br>• Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and consolidations.<br>• Familiarity with payroll processes and willingness to learn if not previously experienced.<br>• Knowledge of project-based accounting, including contract types such as lump sum and fixed fee.<br>• Ability to manage cash flow and forecasting effectively.<br>• Leadership skills to guide and support a small team.<br>• Experience with managing system upgrades, particularly with Deltek, is a plus.
