We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a non-profit organization in Palm Desert, California. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in managing and maintaining financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the organization’s financial stability while utilizing your expertise in accounting processes. Responsibilities: • Provide technical and thorough support for financial, auditing, and accounting programs, including payroll administration. • Prepare diverse financial reports and statements, such as year-end reports and budget documents, while contributing to the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. • Review financial and accounting records for accuracy, making corrections and adjustments as necessary to maintain budgetary control. • Analyze supporting documents to verify proper authorization and compliance with contracts, grants, and applicable regulations. • Perform bank reconciliations, monitor account activity, and resolve discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy. • Execute month-end closing tasks, including balancing accounts, preparing journal entries, and generating reports. • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate billing and payment transactions. • Conduct account reconciliations to verify balances and resolve discrepancies. • Assist with budget adjustments and reallocations to align with organizational needs and financial goals. • Maintain accurate records of all accounting functions and provide support for audits as required.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field. • Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Strong knowledge of billing functions and account reconciliation techniques. • Demonstrated expertise in general accounting practices and procedures. • Ability to perform detailed financial analysis and resolve discrepancies. • Familiarity with compliance regulations related to contracts, grants, and financial reporting. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively. • Proficiency in using accounting software and tools to manage financial data accurately.
