Sr. Accountant
We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our corporate team located in Chesapeake, VA. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, team-oriented professional who will oversee the company’s accounting operations, ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations, and support management with timely and accurate financial information.<br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee all accounting systems and functions, including Payroll (UKG), General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Budgeting.<br>• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.<br>• Manage month-end and year-end close processes within established deadlines.<br>• Support cash flow and budgeting activities.<br>• Oversee timekeeping compliance and process bi-weekly payrolls, including 941s, W-2s, and UKG transfers.<br>• Ensure timely and accurate vendor and subcontractor payments and accounts receivable collections.<br>• Prepare and post journal entries, review trial balances, and reconcile GL accounts.<br>• Assist with the maintenance of company budgets and forecasts.<br>• Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, DFAR, DCAA, DOL, and other regulatory requirements.<br>• Support audits with independent auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies.<br>• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).<br>• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.<br>This is an onsite, full-time, salaried, exempt position.<br>Qualifications:<br>• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.<br>• Five to seven years of experience in corporate accounting; government contracting experience required.<br>• CPA or CMA certification preferred.<br>• Strong knowledge of GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).<br>• Experience with Deltek Costpoint or equivalent ERP system.<br>• Proven experience preparing financial statements and budgets.<br>• Familiarity with contract types such as CPFF, IDIQ, FFP, and T& M.<br>• Experience with WAWF and GSA Assist preferred.<br>• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables and advanced formulas).<br>• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.<br>• Demonstrated leadership and staff development experience.
