Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Margate, Florida. This is a long-term contract position within the government sector, offering an opportunity to apply your accounting expertise and Excel skills in a focused environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and be capable of handling diverse tasks with accuracy and efficiency.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.<br>• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.<br>• Process corporate tax returns and sales tax filings with precision and timeliness.<br>• Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP, to analyze financial data.<br>• Collaborate with team members to support accounts payable and other accounting operations.<br>• Monitor financial transactions to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.<br>• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure deadlines are met.<br>• Provide insights and analysis to support decision-making processes within the organization.<br>• Adapt to new accounting software and tools as needed for operational efficiency.<br>• Respond to inquiries and provide accurate information during audits or reviews.
• Proven experience in corporate tax, sales tax, and general accounting practices.<br>• Proficiency in creating and managing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.<br>• Strong knowledge of GAAP and US GAAP standards.<br>• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.<br>• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.<br>• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.<br>• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.<br>• Flexibility to adapt to new software and technologies as required.
