<p>We are looking to add an Accountant to the Honolulu Team of Full-Time Engagement Professionals. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with members of the community to promote well-being and positive outcomes. Are you passionate about supporting individuals and families in need? Key duties often include maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial statements, preparing budgets, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. Accountants also collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that drive business decisions and process improvements. Preference will be given to applicants currently residing in Hawaii due to the nature of the job requirements.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide direct advocacy, emotional support, and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence.</li><li>Conduct intakes, needs assessments, and facilitate access to legal, housing, and counseling resources.</li><li>Educate clients about their rights and available community resources.</li><li>Work collaboratively with legal and social service providers to ensure holistic care.</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation and uphold strict confidentiality protocols.</li><li>Participate in outreach and education efforts to increase community awareness about domestic violence.</li><li>Attend trainings and actively engage in professional development.</li></ul><p><u>Accounts Payable:</u></p><ul><li>Review all incoming invoices and check requests and prepare for payment</li><li>Code invoices to charge appropriate expense and funding source and submit to Finance Manager for approval</li><li>Once invoices/check requests are approved issue checks and process for required signatures</li><li>Assure discreet handling of all sensitive documents and confidential material. (i.e. budget and salary information)</li><li>Research and answer all Accounts Payable inquires from vendors and management</li><li>Prepare accounts payable correspondence, including invoice disputes</li><li>Maintain accounts payable files for each expense category</li></ul><p><br></p><p><u>Accounts Receivable:</u></p><ul><li>Monitor monthly and quarterly invoices to ensure payments have been received.</li><li>Make copies of invoices for funder expense reports.</li><li>Process incoming funds for deposit in agency bank account</li><li>Submit deposit receipt and support documentation to Finance Manager</li></ul><p><u>Payroll:</u></p><ul><li>Payroll Processing – Allocate payroll costs by grant funder and reconcile to MIP</li></ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Commitment to social justice, equity, and supporting survivor-centric services.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to work with diverse populations and manage sensitive situations with compassion and discretion.</li><li>Previous experience in advocacy, social services, or similar field preferred.</li><li>Hawaii residents are strongly encouraged to apply.</li></ul><p><br></p>
