We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a vital part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and providing strategic guidance to support business objectives. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with staff and leadership, contributing to key financial processes and decision-making. Responsibilities:• Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.• Manage month-end close activities and maintain a healthy general ledger.• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), financial trends, and ratios to identify opportunities for improvement.• Supervise accounting staff and provide guidance on accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.• Develop cash flow forecasts and manage inventory accounting to optimize financial efficiency.• Conduct variance analysis to monitor and address deviations in financial performance.• Collaborate with leadership to support capital investment planning and pricing strategies.• Utilize Sage software to manage and track financial data effectively.• Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations while maintaining accurate records.• Provide training and mentorship to staff to enhance their skills and confidence in accounting practices.

• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.• Expertise in month-end close processes and maintaining general ledger health.• Strong knowledge of cash flow forecasting, inventory accounting, and capital expenditure planning.• Familiarity with Sage or similar accounting software.• Ability to analyze financial metrics, including KPIs and variance analysis.• Excellent leadership and supervisory skills to manage and support accounting staff.• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and leadership.• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to handle complex financial processes.
