Sr Systems Administrator
<p><strong>Robert Half </strong>is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a<strong> Senior Systems Administrator (contract)</strong>. In this role, you will be a member of the IT team and will be focused on the day-to-day operation and maintenance of servers, applications and data presentation. This role is on-site.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Provide technical support and consultation for the server environment to IT staff, business analysts, vendors and users as necessary</li><li>Plan, implement and maintain the server and storage environment</li><li>Schedule installs and upgrades in accordance with established IT policies and procedures</li><li>Monitor and tune the systems to achieve optimum performance levels including providing input for capacity planning and long-term strategic planning</li><li>Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers and storage to ensure compliance with established IT standards, policies and configuration guidelines</li><li>Instruct and help develop less experienced Server Administrators and other technical staff where appropriate</li><li>On a scheduled basis, provide 24x7 on-call support for break/fix issues, respond according to established on-call procedures</li><li>Monitor incident, change and problem SLA metrics</li><li>Assume responsibility for projects and provide direction and feedback for team members through successful completion</li><li>Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer science/technology or job experience related equivalence</li><li>6 + years of experience in managing servers and storage with demonstrated experience in maintaining systems in a secure data center environment</li><li>Successful as a key contributor in at least 5 large projects - large projects are defined as having more than 5 participants or a budget of over $250k or a timeline of 4 months or longer</li><li>Personally responsible for the build, implementation and maintenance of over 75 servers</li><li>Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems</li><li>Experience with VMware, KVM or HyperV virtualization platforms</li><li>Personally responsible for the build, implementation and maintenance of over 100 terabytes of storage</li><li>Experience with either iSCSI, FCoE or Fiber Channel storage area network technologies</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Skills</strong></p><ul><li>MCSE </li><li>Virtualization certification</li><li>ITIL foundations certification </li><li>Any other technology certifications a plus</li></ul><p><strong>Contract Benefit Offerings</strong></p><ul><li>Healthcare (medical, dental, and vision plans)</li><li>401(k) and retirement plans</li><li>Commuter benefits</li><li>Employee and vendor discounts</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>And many more!</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p>
