Accountant
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a contract position within the construction industry, offering the opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to the financial success of the organization. The ideal candidate will excel in construction accounting practices, have a thorough understanding of Sage 300 (Timberline), and bring expertise in cost analysis and project financial management.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage comprehensive accounting processes for multiple construction projects.<br>• Perform in-depth job costing, budget tracking, and variance analysis to ensure financial accuracy.<br>• Handle progress billing, retainage, and subcontractor payments with precision.<br>• Reconcile project accounts, general ledger entries, and bank statements regularly.<br>• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities related to construction operations.<br>• Utilize Sage 300 (Timberline) to enter, track, and analyze financial data effectively.<br>• Prepare month-end financial statements and support audit procedures as needed.<br>• Ensure compliance with contract terms, lien releases, and billing schedules.<br>• Collaborate with project managers and company leadership to deliver accurate financial reporting.<br>• Maintain thorough documentation and records for construction projects and overhead costs.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in construction accounting.<br>• Proficiency in Sage 300 (Timberline) accounting software is essential.<br>• Solid knowledge of job costing, progress billing, and construction financial workflows.<br>• Familiarity with retainage and various construction billing formats.<br>• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.<br>• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.<br>• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.<br>• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in team settings.
