The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cost accounting, inventory, and compliance, along with the ability to guide process improvements and develop a high-performing finance team. Responsibilities:• Lead the monthly close cycle and ensure financial statements and management reports are completed accurately and on schedule.• Establish and enhance accounting controls and financial governance practices that protect company assets and support reliable reporting.• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial analyses to help leadership evaluate performance and plan for future growth.• Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders by translating financial results into clear presentations, actionable metrics, and performance insights.• Support pricing strategy and proposal development while ensuring alignment with applicable government contracting standards and requirements.• Work closely with leaders across departments to maintain compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.• Drive cost improvement efforts by identifying efficiency opportunities, analyzing spending patterns, and supporting value-focused operational initiatives.• Partner with technology teams to improve financial visibility through workflow automation, data warehousing, and business intelligence solutions.• Mentor and develop the finance team by setting clear expectations, encouraging accountability, and supporting career growth.• Oversee manufacturing finance activities such as standard costing, inventory accounting, overhead rate analysis, and variance review to improve business performance. The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $225,000 + discretionary bonus. We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership for a Contract position based in Seattle, Washington. This role will guide core accounting activities, strengthen reporting practices, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful for operational and strategic decisions. The Controller will help reinforce sound internal processes in a complex nonprofit environment while supporting compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across finance operations. Prior experience leading teams in a nonprofit setting is highly preferred. Responsibilities:• Direct day-to-day accounting activities across the general ledger, payables, receivables, cash activity, fixed assets, reconciliations, and other essential finance functions.• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles by setting deadlines, coordinating reviews, and ensuring complete supporting documentation.• Produce accurate financial statements and related schedules, analyze notable variances, and flag emerging issues that require leadership attention.• Maintain accounting structures, policies, and system settings to support consistent classification, reporting, and financial control.• Apply appropriate accounting treatment to grants, contributions, leases, accruals, prepaid items, restricted funding, and other significant transactions.• Collaborate with finance and operational leaders so actual results are reflected properly in budgets, forecasts, and management reporting.• Oversee the financial administration of grants, contracts, and other restricted revenue streams, including setup, allocation methodology, reporting, and closeout activities.• Lead billing and receivables processes by monitoring aging, supporting collections, reconciling balances, and escalating material revenue concerns such as delayed reimbursements or denied claims.• Partner with program, grants, and administrative teams to interpret funding requirements, strengthen compliance practices, and resolve accounting issues early.• Build effective accounting processes and team capability to support a growing statewide nonprofit organization and reinforce accountability across finance operations.
