Network Engineer
<p><strong>Network Engineer (Contract / Contract-to-Hire)</strong></p><p>Location: Virginia Beach, VA</p><p>Type: On-site, 6-month contract with possible contract-to-hire</p><p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>We are seeking a Network Engineer to support and enhance an enterprise, multi-site network environment with a strong focus on security, availability, and reliability. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, working with modern networking and security platforms in a compliance-driven environment.</p><p>The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in complex infrastructures, understands high-availability design principles, and can confidently support enterprise networking and security technologies in production environments.</p><p>This position is on-site and offered as a 6-month contract, with the potential to convert to full-time based on performance and organizational needs.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Design, configure, deploy, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across core, distribution, and access layers.</li><li>Support and administer HPE Aruba networking solutions, including switching and wireless infrastructure.</li><li>Implement and maintain high-availability (HA) network architectures, including redundancy, failover, and resiliency strategies.</li><li>Configure, manage, and troubleshoot next-generation firewalls, including security policy design, SSL decryption, VPNs, and HA configurations.</li><li>Support secure network segmentation, VLAN design, and routing best practices.</li><li>Work with cloud-based edge security and networking services such as WAF, DDoS mitigation, secure DNS, traffic inspection, and Zero Trust access models.</li><li>Monitor network performance, availability, and security using logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.</li><li>Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and remediation efforts.</li><li>Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and operations teams.</li><li>Contribute to network documentation, diagrams, and operational standards.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer in enterprise or multi-site environments.</li><li>Demonstrated experience supporting HPE Aruba networking infrastructure.</li><li>Strong operational experience with Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls, including HA deployments and VPN technologies.</li><li>Solid understanding of routing and switching fundamentals, VLANs, secure segmentation, and high-availability networking concepts.</li><li>Experience using network monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools.</li><li>Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred / Bonus Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions.</li><li>Practical knowledge of Zero Trust networking architectures.</li><li>Exposure to SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS technologies, or security telemetry integration.</li><li>Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments (SOC 2, PCI, government).</li><li>Relevant certifications such as ACSP, PCNSE, Security+, or CCNP.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Information</strong></p><p>This role is on-site and requires regular presence at our Virginia Beach location.</p><p>Initial engagement is a 6-month contract, with the possibility of conversion to full-time employment.</p><p>Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.</p>
